Home - API 5CT OCTG Casing Blogs - Top 20 API 5CT Casing Manufacturers in 2026: Compared by Casing Grade, OD & Connection

Last updated: October 2026
This guide compares 20 API 5CT casing manufacturers by production route, product range, connection offering, and delivery market. Tenaris and Vallourec offer broad OCTG and premium-connection portfolios; Nippon Steel and JFE Steel supply specialist alloy grades; Synbase Steel combines casing with tubing, couplings, and other pipeline products.
Steel casing supports the borehole and separates formations in oil and gas wells. A purchasing schedule for well construction and completion may include various grades and sizes, which have various pipe body, heat treatment, and connection requirements. Keep conductor casing and later casing strings as separate procurement items when their applicable specifications differ.
Quick Picks, Top API 5CT Casing Manufacturers by Procurement Scenario:
Disclosure: This guide is published by Synbase Steel. We list ourselves first because this is our website, not because we claim to be the market leader. The other 19 manufacturers are grouped by what they are best for, in no particular order within each group.

We’ve identified 20 API 5CT casing manufacturers for their published casing product ranges, manufacturing operations and distinct supply markets. We conducted our analysis in October 2026 and sourced company information from official company websites and/or other reliable sources. Structural-only fabricators, pure traders, surplus brokers and duplicate entries from the same corporate group weren’t considered.
Our 3-Tier OCTG Mill Grouping separates integrated and specialist OCTG producers, high capacity Asian mills and regional suppliers. The categories define sourcing fit; the numbers are for reading order. Consider quoted manufacturing location, grade, pipe dimensions, connection design and inspection package for each.
For casing or tubing, write API Spec 5CT and the applicable edition into the purchase specification, then identify the mechanical properties and chemical composition required for the ordered grade. The API 5CT standard covers the product specification; it doesn’t address the engineering evaluation for selecting a casing string for a given well.

We benchmark all 20 validated API 5CT casing manufacturers against each other based on headquarters location, year of establishment, primary oil casing procurement fit, mill profile, outer diameter and grade scope, operational strengths, and commercial trade-offs in our Master Comparison Matrix.
A casing pipe supplier may provide several steel pipe products through different production sites. Compare the quoted API 5CT products line by line: the API requirements, grade, dimensions, end finish, and delivery location should stay visible even when the commercial offer bundles several items.

This group brings together suppliers with broad OCTG portfolios, specialist grades and premium connection offerings. Use individual company profiles to distinguish pipe-body production, connection technology and service coverage. A premium connection and material selection may address distinct requirements in well conditions.
In drilling and production, a material and connection solve different problems. Sour-service material selection addresses sulfide stress cracking (SSC) and other material limitations, while connection selection addresses the specified loads and sealing envelope. This distinction becomes very important in gas projects. For drilling operations, final inspection plans should assign quality control measures to pipe body, heat treatment, and threaded ends, including specified NDT.

Published highlight: Seamless and ERW manufacturing routes are available within the company portfolio
Best for: Indian tubular programs comparing seamless and ERW supply options
Buying limitation: A general mill-size claim doesn’t mean every casing grade and finish is available at that diameter; Indian-origin exports add freight without local stock.
Maharashtra Seamless is part of the D.P. Jindal Group, distinct from Jindal SAW. Its first project used Mannesmann Demag CPE technology at Nagothane, with incorporation in 1988 and plant commissioning in 1992. The company offers both seamless and ERW routes, making it useful for a mixed tubular program, provided the casing quotation identifies the production route and finishing scope for each line item.
Headquarters: Dnipro, Ukraine | Founded: 1990 group formation; pipe-plant heritage from 1891
Official website: https://interpipe.biz/en/proyzvodstvo-trub/
Company type: Integrated electric-arc steelmaker and tubular manufacturer
Main products: API 5CT casing and tubing, line pipe, and premium-connection OCTG
Manufacturing capabilities: In-house steelmaking supports seamless pipe rolling and downstream finishing in Ukraine
Published standards and quality information: Official product catalogs describe API 5CT pipe products and the company publishes plant-specific certificate pages
Published highlight: The supply chain combines Interpipe Steel with the group's pipe production operations
Best for: European and export casing programs comparing an integrated Ukrainian supply chain
Buying limitation: Ukrainian manufacturing requires a delivery schedule matched to the agreed transport route.
Interpipe combines its electric-arc steelmaking operation with pipe production and finishing in Ukraine. Its official energy catalogs describe API 5CT casing and tubing, while plant-specific certificate pages separate the manufacturing entities. This provides buyers with an integrated steel-to-pipe option, with the transport route and shipment schedule treated as part of the sourcing comparison rather than an afterthought.
Headquarters: Paderborn, Germany; group headquarters in Salzburg, Austria | Founded: 1876 group heritage
Official website: https://www.benteler.com/en/products-services/steel-tube-products/tubes-for-energy-applications/
Company type: Steel and seamless tube manufacturer
Main products: Seamless casing, tubing, and line pipe for energy applications
Manufacturing capabilities: German tube operations and the Shreveport, Louisiana tube mill
Published standards and quality information: The corporate downloads page lists API 5CT certificates by plant, including Shreveport and German operations
Published highlight: The Shreveport plant remained with Benteler after the proposed Tenaris sale was discontinued
Best for: Comparing seamless pipe body supply from European and U.S. operations
Buying limitation: The offered pipe-body and end-finishing scope must be distinguished from a proprietary premium-connection package; seamless manufacture does not meet an ERW-only specification.
Benteler's energy product range includes seamless casing, tubing, and line pipe, and its downloads page organizes API certificates by plant. The company retained its Shreveport mill after the proposed Tenaris transaction was discontinued in 2023, so it remains a separate manufacturer in this comparison. Buyers can assess the German and U.S. production options against the required pipe-body and finishing scope.
Headquarters: Amurrio, Spain | Founded: 1892 industrial heritage
Official website: https://www.tubosreunidosgroup.com/en/markets/upstream
Company type: Seamless steel tube manufacturing group
Main products: Casing, tubing, drill pipe, accessories, and O-Next OCTG product families
Manufacturing capabilities: Spanish seamless tube operations with documented plain-end OCTG product variants
Published standards and quality information: The group's published product environmental documents identify API 5CT technical specifications for particular OCTG products
Published highlight: O-Next documentation identifies individual product families and their material and dimensional scope
Best for: European seamless pipe procurement with product-specific environmental documents
Buying limitation: Plain-end tube documentation doesn’t include a completed threaded connection package.
Tubos Reunidos supplies casing, tubing, drill pipe, and accessories from its broader seamless tube business. Its O-Next and other product environmental documents identify specific API 5CT OCTG variants, including plain-end products, which helps buyers compare a defined material rather than a group-wide environmental slogan. The selected tube specification, end finish, and connection package should remain separate lines in the technical comparison.

For an API 5CT steel casing inquiry, distinguish grades such as API 5CT J55 from heat-treated options such as N80 Type 1 and N80Q. Grade names do not by themselves establish corrosion resistance in every environment. Material selection according to NACE MR0175 and the ISO 15156 series needs the well conditions and the chosen material’s qualification limits, alongside the other applicable industry standards.
Prioritize the mill that can supply your casing schedule, and then confirm the production and threading sites. Consider the API Monogram scope, grade, and route of manufacturing, the material’s service envelope, connection test report and inspection package. The comparison table limits the supplier search. The six checks below turn supplier selection into an order specification.
For the current standard changes, see API 5CT eleventh-edition announcement. The API announcement for the 10th edition also records the removal of legacy M65; older supplier tables can still show that historical grade.
Vallourec, Tenaris, Nippon Steel, and JFE Steel offer specialist material and premium-connection portfolios for demanding wells. Compare the proposed grade and connection design against the actual sour-service and offshore requirements. Synbase Steel, TPCO, and Baosteel also offer casing packages with different product and supply scopes; a company name alone doesn’t qualify a casing string.
Tenaris, Vallourec, Nippon Steel, TPCO, and Baosteel are major groups with broad OCTG offerings. A single largest-manufacturer ranking would require comparable casing-only production data for the same year; group steel or all-pipe capacity is a different measure. For procurement, the producing mill and its confirmed delivery allocation matter more than a group-wide tonnage claim.
An API 5CT casing manufacturer operates a rotary-piercing seamless pipe mill, high-frequency ERW welding line, quench-and-temper furnace, or threading line and supplies original mill inspection documents; an active facility-specific API Monogram license is a separate authorization. An OCTG stockist or trading supplier purchases finished pipe from the mills for distribution, relying on pass-through mill documents, to offer quick call-off delivery.
In 2026, API 5CT casing cost per metric ton scales across four mill cost drivers: hot-rolled coil or round billet feedstock indices, forming process (ERW vs. rotary-pierced seamless pipe), heat-treatment and sour-service qualification (as-rolled J55/K55 vs. full-body Q&T N80Q/L80/P110 vs. NACE TM0177-tested C90/T95/C110 and 13Cr), and API 5B threading vs. premium connections qualified through ISO 13679 testing. Buyers should submit exact OD, weight (lb/ft), grade, PSL level, and range length to mills for live FOB or CIF quotes.
It’s not always the case that P110 can replace L80 or C90 for a sour well. The grades chosen for the job have to be qualified for the conditions of H2S, temperature and stress. A proprietary sour qualified P110 option needs to have its own documented envelope and minimum yield strength by itself isn’t sufficient. Along with the mill inspection records, also request the material qualification.
Use the facility-level and document checks in the manufacturer qualification checklist. It separates license scope from heat and lot traceability, then identifies the inspection records needed before shipment release.
For a premium-connection program, compare Tenaris, Vallourec, Nippon Steel, JFE Steel, and the other specialist connection suppliers against the required material and test envelope. For standard ERW casing, compare the named production sites of SeAH, Tex-Tube, Borusan, and Arabian Pipes. Larger seamless pipe packages can be compared across TPCO, Baosteel, Hengyang Valin, Changbao, and the regional seamless pipe producers in the table.
